Typology : hotel

Location: Doha (Qatar)

Completion date: 2019

Scope: Concep Design + Technical Design

A hotel where Qatari heritage meets modern hospitality

Deeply inspired by Qatar’s rich cultural heritage and long-standing traditions of hospitality, this hotel comprises a bold composition of stone-clad buildings. Its fragmented roofline creates a dynamic play of volumes that gently taper as the development approaches Souk Waqif. The façades are defined by refinement, featuring faceted windows and perforated bronze screens that bring texture and lightness to the architecture.

At the top, the Infinity Rooftop Lounge offers panoramic views over Doha’s skyline. Clad in woven wood and straw panels—visible from the souk’s entrance—this detail creates a visual bridge between tradition and modernity.

The hotel includes 213 rooms and suites, along with event spaces, a fitness centre, swimming pool, spa, and a curated selection of restaurants and bars, offering guests a complete and refined experience.

Msheireb Downtown Doha: a dialogue between tradition and innovation

The challenge at Msheireb Downtown Doha was to craft a new architectural identity rooted in local culture. This project rises to the occasion by blending traditional Qatari design principles with a contemporary, climate-conscious approach.

The design draws from the masterplan’s key guidelines: historic proportions, clean architectural forms, informal building arrangements, animated roofscapes, and layered ornamentation to play with light and shadow. Sustainability is central to the project, with carefully considered solutions tailored to the specific environmental conditions of Qatar.

This project was developed while working as an Architect at Squire and Partners in London.
